also I don't think I have ever told anyone about why I am always suggesting new policies and I think that it should be known. it is not because I am selfish, and don't want to give other people a chance at gear, and its not because gear is the only thing I care about. it is because I am the kind of guy that wants to do the best job that I can in order to be the biggest help I can be. and yes I would like it if efforts like this were rewarded more like in guilds that have a more strict ranking system, but I also don't want leave everyone here like a lot of people did in the expansion. so what I figured might be the best course of action might be would be to try and change some of the aspects of the guild to fit my thoughts. and I have realized that most of the things that I suggest are not going to be considered because this is not a guild about me its a guild about everyone. and even if nothing gets changed ill know that I tried, and most likely I will stillnot leave, because I really like you guys and want to help, and because im too much of a wuss to tell darpeh im leaving lol.

I was recently thinking about the idofficer status in our guild and I think im missing something. what I have been able to infer about the actual role of class office/class lead is that they are really only the people that have been recognized for their efforts, and are sort of the go-to person for questions about that class. also as it would seem is that the offers are also part of the guilds counsel that meets with darpeh on occasion. what I have come to think based on this is that the class officers really don't have much control over their class. now maby im missing somethibg or maby that was how it was intended to be due to our lack of being a hardcore guild. however it seems to me that the reason that this is is because there was never really a need to have someone governing the classes and although it was most likely to be changed once the situation called for it, it never really was because it never really did become a necesity. however, at this point in our guild progression with our urge to expand I feel that it may be time to give the officers more control over their classes so that there might be more order amongst everyone. the actual specifics of this idea would have to be determined by the counsel of course. as a suggestion we might allow the offeicers and class leads of the people rolling on loot decide how things should be taken care of. this could be done at the begging of each raid or on each specific item. for example if a piece of leather dropped for melee dps classes the druid and rogue class officers could either choose to assign the piece to an individual or just decide to make everyone just roll on it. of course this is only a suggestion and by no means do I intend to question the already set down rules, I just thought that it might be goo to bring the subject up.

Officers are usually choosen from the ranks as types that are helpful. Helpful means not just "oh, you want to farm boss 2 in instance X to get a trinket" ... it also means running instance you don't need to help out other guildies who do need it.

We also try to pick those that show a good overall game knowledge (myself excluded of course). In a raid they have limited rolls ... for a bit when I was playing Kaz it was up to me to organize healing ... I know star was in charge of MD rotations etc. Problem with that system is ... who does it when the usual officer issn't there?

Another quality we try for is harder to quantify ... a certain level of ... um ... adultness? Maturity? Hard to explain ... for example: An officer has to be able to handle the "Some one in your guild just behaved like a total ass" whispers. Oddly had one two nights ago, I could not field it as I was tanking at the time, and suggested the whisperer contact shorty or cloud, both of whom where on, or wait for Darpeh. If Cloud and Short had not been on, I'd've had to call a 5 min afk break and handle it (both of them were in Dalaran at the time, Drak was also on, but in an instance).

That is a short list. There are other odd things like policy debates, how to handle troublesome characters etc.

Darpeh, did I leave anything out?

officers, with all the time in the world, have/do:

* general game knowledge (OR willingness to help figure out answers in my case)
* raid/instance assistance (helping fill empty slots/scheduling/master loot/organizing players/etc)
* class assistance (not just with suggestions of gear but I am always amazed at the lack of knowledge of game play or specific raid strategies for classes)
* mediator (this seems to be the biggest part of the job and what Kazzie was talking about - calming down tempers in guild chat or in instance runs, mediating loot drops, deciding on guild bank distribution, talking to players about inappropriate behavior, etc.)
* advice (on policies, recruitment, promotions, guild kicks, etc)
* role model (for trust, maturity, emotional restraint, etc)
* and, MY favorite, mood setter. :-)

anyways...i thought it might be nice to start a new thread somewhere that is based solely on giving praise to certain people that you feel are particularly good players or helpful or really anything you feel you might want to mention about someone. this way new members could look at the page and get a feel for who might be able to help them out and who sounds like a cool person to hang out with. it could also give the officers and idea who is being active and decent because they cant get all their info on people from personal experience, there are just too many people in hunter alliance.

this weekend I would like for us to try an experiment. what I have in mind is, testing how long an epic will stay on a boss after it has been killed. the way in which we would do this is by just leaving the first drop we get to that nobody needs on the boss, kill up to KT then come back and see if it is still there (of course this would be useless if someone already knows the answer to this).

if it turns out that boss bodies do not despawn while loot is still on them then I have a new idea as to how to distribute loot.

what we would do is do a full clear up to KT then distribute loot at the end so that people know all the things they could possibly get before they waste their rolls on a minor upgrade thinking that it might be the only thing that they would be able to get.

the way the rolls would work for each rank are as follows (this is excluding lvl 226 loot or whatever happens to be the higest quality item level in the raid)
-initiates- only allowed to get 1 main spec upgrade but are allowed to roll on up to 3 different things if they lose their roll.
-raid member and up- allowed to get as many main spec upgrades as they can (but only if the person they are rolling against has won as much or more than them).
-top item quality loot- the current merit system will be used to distribute this loot (off limits to initiates if someone of higher rank rolls)

typically this loot system should balance out the problems we have and will work extreamly well if people try to be decent to others and not be loot whores. what I mean by this is if someone only needs one thing out of all that has dropped, it would be nice if the people that have more than one upgrade pass on said item. if this sytem could actually be used then it should cater to the casuals as well as the more devoted people.

definitely not. I have no intention of running all over the instance after we're done to hand out loot. It's a waste of time, aside from that part of strategizing for your roll/merit points is NOT knowing what else will drop. In addition to that there would be people who would say "well i need to go soon so can we go back and get this epic off this boss?" and If we say yes then we blow about 10min going back to get the item from the previous wing's last boss. If we say no people don't get loot for killing the boss they were there for.

So in general, absolutely not.. sorry.
